It has no USB and the output power is only 60W. Other models like JVC and Sharp have more value as they priced lower. However, to my surprise, this unit gives me the best sound quality amount other models available on today's market. Having USB input and WMA playing ability is good, but the whole purpose for buying a stereo is to listen to music with good sound quality. MP3 and WMA files, as being compressed, reduced the music quality comparing to CD. This unit gives me all the fine details of music notes. Micro system does not design to use in a large area like living room, so 60W is more than enough for my master bedroom. I am very glad to pick this one up. I just cannot settle for other models. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful: Good Stereo System, This review is from: Sony CMTMX500i Desktop Micro System (Electronics) This is a great little stereo for the money, can't go wrong. PROS: -Great sound quality: music is clear and the bass is good for having no sub. -Has iPod dock, Audio-In port, CD player, and radio. CONS: -Radio tuning is extremely slow since there is no turn knob, just a button. However, you can set favorite stations for faster tuning. -The receiver doesn't have all the controls for the stereo (all of the controls are on the clicker) -Lack of EQ controls (only bass and treble) If you're willing to spend a little more money, then I would skip this stereo system. However, for this price it's a great system. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Good Sound, Ignorant Customer Service, By Topper "Topspin" (Michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony CMTMX500i Desktop Micro System (Electronics) The most important thing is that this little unit sounds very good, I'm impressed. I'm in my 50s and I don't care to crank up my music to the point where my ears bleed, so you need to consider that when I compliment the sound quality. The most annoying thing is that I called Sony's customer service the day before I bought this in Michigan. I spoke with a woman and I told her that half of the reviews on Amazon stated that this unit has NO USB even though it states in the instructions that it does. Also, some pictures on Sony's website clearly show a USB port in the front of the unit, while in others, it's missing. She insisted that all those reviews were wrong, she was adamant that the CMT-MX500i has a USB input. She also insisted that the pictures showing the USB missing HAD TO BE A DIFFERENT UNIT! I opened the box ... it DOES NOT have a USB input!!! Sony needs to get their act together. They don't know s..t about their own products ... it's really quite... Read more |
